Dehradun: In line with Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami’s clear zero-tolerance directives against corruption and illegal construction, the Mussoorie-Dehradun Development Authority (MDDA) carried out major action on Friday against illegal plotting and unauthorised construction, demolishing structures at two locations and sealing another. The authority has made it clear that no construction or land development carried out without an approved map or permission will be tolerated under any circumstances, and that such action will continue in the future as well.
In the first action, an MDDA team demolished illegal plotting being developed on nearly four bigha of land near Kailashpur Road, Mehuwala Mafi, Dehradun, by Murslin, Sultan and others without the authority’s approval. The individuals concerned had earlier been issued a show-cause notice and a stop-work notice under the relevant provisions of the Uttarakhand Urban and Country Planning and Development Act, 1973. As no satisfactory response was submitted within the stipulated time, the illegal development work was demolished with bulldozers as per rules.
In a second action, the authority sealed unauthorised construction being carried out by Nitin Khanna at Galogi Dhar area on the Mussoorie-Dehradun motor road. Officials said the necessary approval for the construction had not been obtained from the authority. Upon finding irregularities during inspection, sealing action was carried out with immediate effect to prevent any further construction work.
In a third action, MDDA demolished illegal plotting being developed on nearly 10 to 15 bigha of land by Shiv Prasad Nainwal and Jagdish Prasad Nainwal at Karwari Grant Canal Road, Shimla Bypass Road, Dehradun. The authority said a case had been filed in this matter earlier and the concerned parties were given sufficient opportunity to respond, but since no satisfactory reply was received, demolition action was carried out as per rules. MDDA officials said the authority’s enforcement team will continue to conduct regular inspection drives going forward, and strict action will be taken against any plotting or construction found without map approval or land-use conversion. Citizens have also been urged to check the legal status of any plot and the authority’s approval before purchasing it, so they do not face problems in the future.
“No permission will be given to anyone to carry out construction while ignoring the rules,” said Banshidhar Tiwari. He said MDDA is continuously running a campaign against illegal construction and illegal plotting in line with Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami’s directives, and that no one will be allowed to develop a colony or carry out construction in disregard of the rules. He appealed to all citizens to verify the legal approvals of any land or building before investing in it, adding that the authority’s action will continue and strict legal action will be ensured, without any discrimination, against anyone found violating the rules.
“Do not begin construction work without obtaining permission,” said Mohan Singh Bernia. He said MDDA’s enforcement team is conducting regular inspections and that construction or illegal plotting carried out without approval will not be tolerated under any circumstances. He requested people not to start construction work without the authority’s permission and to thoroughly verify the legal status of land before buying it.
